Edmonton is well known as the
city of champions, referring to the number of Stanley Cup wins they
have experienced over the years (5). Their proud hockey history has
much to do with Edmonton being the old stomping ground of Wayne
Gretzky “The Great One” who dominated hockey through the 80’s.
These days Edmonton is far more renowned for being a staging point
for workers heading to the ‘oil patch’. The economic boom that has
come to Alberta over the past years has been phenomenal and the two
major cities of Edmonton and Calgary are enjoying the fruits of
their rugged work history.
